The Open University’s Central Regions Arts Club was founded in 2001. It is affiliated to the Open University Students Association ( www.ousa.org.uk ). Its centre of gravity is in the West Midlands but there are no geographical limits on membership. Full membership is open to all students, former students and staff of the Open University, that is, anyone with an OU P.I. number. Associate membership is open to family and friends of full members. The aim of the Club is to enrich the lives of members of the Open University community by providing a range of activities related to the Arts, in the central regions of England.
Each six-monthly programme of events includes a number of talks or workshops led by OU tutors and invited speakers; these are free to members. Other events include concerts, theatre visits, art gallery tours, and other visits.
The AGM is usually held in November, and the elected committee organises events on behalf of the membership.
